Marriage Ceremonies - City of Novi

Marriage ceremonies are performed at the discretion of the Mayor of the City of Novi. Please complete the Marriage Ceremony Request form below to be contacted by City staff regarding scheduling a ceremony. Requests must be submitted at least 14 days in advance of the desired ceremony date.
Steps to request a marriage ceremony:

Obtain a Marriage License from the Oakland County Clerk’s Office.
You need to bring 2 people who will serve as witnesses.
Schedule a ceremony date
1. within the 33-day constraints of the marriage license
2. at least 14 days in advance of ceremony date

There is a $50 fee.

Eligibility

At least one of the people getting married must be a resident of the City of Novi. Two witnesses over 18 are required. The City does not provide witnesses.

Fees

The fee is $50 for a marriage ceremony. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, or money order (made payable to the City of Novi).

Marriage Licenses

You must have the marriage ceremony within 33 days from your marriage license application date. It is recommended that you submit your marriage ceremony request prior to obtaining your marriage license to ensure that you can request the date that you want within the 33-day time constraints. If you already have your license, the "solemnize by" date on your license is the last day you can have your ceremony before your license expires.
