Description
BRAD just learned that the Road Commission for Oakland County is holding a Public Meeting on October 23rd regarding their planned resurfacing of Novi Road between 8 Mile Road and 9 Mile Road. The work is currently scheduled to start in 2025.
Open House Date/Time: Wednesday, Oct. 23, 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Open House details: The meeting will be in an open‐house format; there will not be a formal presentation. Anyone interested can review plans and talk with RCOC staff at any time during the meeting.
Open House Location: Hillside Middle School, 775 N. Center St., Northville, MI 48167 (in the cafeteria).
The project will be done in two phases and will include:
- Milling the existing pavement and repaving with two layers of asphalt.
- Adding a continuous, center left-turn lane throughout this section of Novi Road.
- Adding two northbound lanes and one southbound lane from the Rouge River/Allen Drive to 9 Mile Road.
- Reconstructing the curve between 8 Mile Road and Allen Road/the Rouge River.
- Placing curb and gutter where appropriate within the project.
- Installing storm sewer to improve drainage.
- Reconstructing side streets and driveway approaches throughout the project.
- Improving pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Upgrading traffic signs and pavement markings within the project.
- Installation of High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) pedestrian crosswalk beacons just north of Galway Street.
