Updated: July 7, 2025
Start: Week of July 14, 2025 (weather permitting)
Current Status: Pending
End: Tbd
Road Jurisdiction: City of Novi
Progress:
7/7/25: Performing the pulverization during the driest months is best, so the contractor will begin with Stage 3, then Stage 4, then Stage 1, then Stage 2. The northbound lane of West Park Drive from West Road to Pontiac Trail will be closed. The southbound lane will be maintained for through traffic. The northbound detour will be west on West Road, north on Beck Road, east on Pontiac Trail, and back to West Park Drive (see detour maps below).
Description:
The City will be rehabilitating West Park Drive from 12 Mile Road to Pontiac Trail. The plan is to pulverize and repave from West Road to Pontiac Trail (Stages 3 & 4), then rehabilitate the existing pavement via an asphalt mill and overlay for the segment between 12 Mile Road and West Road (Stages 1 & 2). The project will also involve updating several existing intersecting streets, safety improvements, ADA sidewalk upgrades, and improved grading/drainage throughout.
Stage 3 (starts the week of July 14, 2025): Pulverization of the existing asphalt, reshaping, paving, and culvert replacement of the northbound lanes between West Road and Pontiac Trail. Stage 3 traffic will be southbound only.
Stage 4: Pulverization of the existing asphalt, reshaping, paving, and culvert replacement of the southbound lanes between West Road and Pontiac Trail. Stage 4 traffic will switch to northbound only.
Stage 1: Mill and fill the northbound lanes between 12 Mile Road and West Road. Stage 1 traffic will switch to southbound only.
Stage 2: Mill and fill the southbound lanes between 12 Mile Road and West Road. Stage 2 traffic will be northbound only.
For a longer-lasting and consistent product, each stage will have only the first lift of new asphalt placed. Then, the contractor will return to place the final lift of asphalt on all completed sections at once.
