Updated: March 3, 2026
Start: March 2026
Current Status: In Progress
End: November 2026
Project Jurisdiction: City of Novi

Description:

This project involves widening Beck Road to five lanes between the area south of Grand River Avenue and the north side of the 11 Mile Road intersection. Key upgrades include transitioning the corridor from a rural ditch profile to a modern curb-and-gutter system supported by an extensive new storm sewer network.

There is also a large diameter culvert that will be installed under Beck Road, south of Heritage Drive. The contractor will begin installing a new storm sewer network along the western edge of Beck Road before construction begins on the road widening. There will also be improvements made to the signalized intersection to the hospital and ADA sidewalk upgrades throughout.

Pre-staging will take place in March, with utility relocation and main construction work to begin in April.

Traffic Control/Detours:

Drivers can expect to see minor lane closures or lane shifts under flag control while the culvert work is being done. Once the actual road work begins, Beck Road will be open to southbound traffic only; northbound traffic will be detoured using 10 Mile, Novi Road, and Grand River Avenue.

Once utility relocation and culvert work are completed, this segment will be closed to northbound traffic while maintaining southbound traffic for the duration of the project.

The northbound detour will be 10 Mile Road, Novi Road, and Grand River Avenue.
