DTE Energy Home EV Charger Installation Overview

DTE Energy coordinates with licensed, local electricians to install a Level 2 EV charger or a 240‑volt outlet (like NEMA 14‑50) at your home. Installation is performed by certified professionals vetted by DTE.

How it works:

  • Log into DTE’s portal to request a free quote based on your needs.
  • Choose an installation date that suits your schedule.
  • On the day of installation, a DTE-certified electrician visits your home, confirms pricing, and completes the installation.

Eligibility requirements (based on the Home EV Charger Installation Agreement dated September 2023):

  • Must be a current residential DTE Electric customer in good standing.
  • Must agree to contract terms, which include a financing structure where the installation cost is added to your electric bill until fully paid off. Any installed charger or outlet becomes your property at the end of the agreement.

Rebate eligibility:

  • You may qualify for a $500 Home EV Charger Rebate if you install a Level 2 charger, enroll in an eligible time-of-day electric rate, and meet income or purchasing criteria (applied within six months of installation, with purchase/install after December 31, 2024).
