Description:

A Pavement Preservation Overlay (PPO) is a quick, cost-effective way to address a roadway with a heavily deteriorated surface and extend the overall service life. This is done without the need for reconstructive efforts that involve lengthy road closures, detours, excavations, and pricy replacements. Ajax has already successfully completed PPO's on Beck Road from 9 to 11 Mile Roads and on 11 Mile from Taft to Beck. Originally, it was the City's intent to begin the widening construction on Beck Road from 11 Mile to Grand River this year, but ran into several delays that may now extend into 2026. In the meantime, the surface condition of Beck Road (11 Mile to Grand River) has reached a point where we can no longer maintain effectively.

Traffic Control/Detours:

All work can be accomplished under flag control. No closures or detours will be utilized. Motorists should expect a couple of days of milling down the existing pavement and a couple of days to place it back. Although it's not an intrusive method of rehabilitation, those 3 to 4 days of work will make traffic in this area extremely congested. We highly recommend avoiding this area and seeking alternate routes when the project begins.
