**UPDATE - July 19, 2021**
Our team at GFL Environmental is excited to serve the residents of Novi and very much appreciates your patience while we fine-tune our service during the transition.
In larger communities like Novi, residents may notice some “bumps in the road” as our team members learn their new routes. While some issues are bound to occur, GFL understands the frustration caused by a missed or delayed pickup, and we apologize for any inconvenience you might experience.
GFL’s management team will continue to work closely with our partners in City government to identify and resolve issues while refining the delivery of waste hauling and recycling services.
Should you have a service issue, contact our Oakland county-based call center by calling our dedicated Novi helpline at 248.204.6759. You may also make a service request online by visiting the Request Assistance portal. Your request will be routed directly to our field supervisors for resolution.
If you have any questions about your service, please visit cityofnovi.org/trash for essential information.
We aim to provide Novi residents with years of excellent service. Thank you!

Cart Swap Requests
A reminder that residents have until July 31 to request a swap or removal of carts. If you have already submitted your request, please ensure your carts are outside on your service day as that is when they plan for the swap to take place. You can request a cart swap at cityofnovi.org/cartswap.
Waste Management Carts
We feel like we have made great progress with the retrieval of the old Waste Management carts. If you still have a Waste Management cart please call 248.735.5640.
Here are some general rules to follow for trash and recycling pickups for Novi’s solid waste program. If you have any questions, please contact GFL Environmental USA at 844-464-3587. To ensure your trash and recycling is picked up, please:
- Place your garbage and recycling in the appropriate carts by 7:00am on your collection day. Carts should be removed by the evening of your collection day.
- Each cart should have 3 feet between it and any other item.
- Do not overfill carts. If you have additional garbage, please place it in another container that is no larger than 35 gallons. If you need additional carts, contact GFL Environmental.
- Do not put hot ashes, charcoal or hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, liquids, car batteries, etc. in your garbage or recycling cart.
