November 2021 - Anthony Avant, Police Officer
Anthony Avant, Police Officer
Due to the compassion you showed an elderly citizen and all of our citizens on a daily basis, I want to thank and congratulate you on your selection as the November 2021 Novi Public Safety Employee of the Month. You were nominated by Sergeant Rachel Meier.
On November 2, 2021, you were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Novi Road and Twelve Mile Road when you observed a vehicle make a prohibited turn at the intersection. You stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, an 87-year-old female who explained that she was trying to drive to city hall to drop off her voting ballot. After attempting to give her directions, she seemed confused on how to get there; she stated that she lives in Fox Run and rarely drives anywhere other than the grocery store. You offered to take the driver to city hall to drop off her ballot and then took her to city hall and drove her back to her vehicle that was parked in a parking lot where the traffic stop occurred. You then helped her get going in the right direction to get back to Fox Run.
You are recognized for your dedication to the citizens of this community and the concern and kindness that you showed this driver. You embody community service, and through your actions exemplify the core values of the Novi Public Safety Team.
Congratulations to you on being named as the November 2021 Public Safety Employee of the Month. To show our appreciation, a $25 gift card has been placed in your mailbox. Congratulations on being named as the November 2021 Public Safety Employee of the Month.
