For your exceptional kindness, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond your normal duties, you were all nominated by Lt. Mark Pehrson. Congratulations on your selection as the June Novi Public Safety Employees of the Month.

Novi Fire was called to assist an individual who needed medical attention. Upon arrival, it was determined that there was not a medical issue, however, the resident was very distraught over her physical condition and needed to be moved so that some personal care issues could be addressed. Speaking with the woman’s father, he shared that he was distressed that his daughter could no longer rely on her chair due to its poor condition; additionally, his daughter’s ailment required a medical bed. As the conversation with the father progressed, you and your fellow firefighters learned that there was a medical bed in the back bedroom, however the man was not capable of moving the bed into the living room for his daughter. After assessing the situation, you and your team volunteered to disassemble the bed, move it into the living room, and reassemble it; also making sure to repair the power cords so that the hospital bed would work properly. Lastly, you and your crew washed and cleaned the female and lifted her into the hospital bed. The woman was extremely grateful for your help and through emotional tears, thanked each of you. Each of you extended the spirit of humility and humanity to a citizen who just needed a little extra support.

You are recognized for your dedication to the citizens of Novi and your embodiment of teamwork, initiative, professionalism, and most importantly, compassion.
