Novi Police Go Pink
NOVI, Mich., August 1, 2019 – The Novi Police Department is ramping up its support for breast cancer awareness by replacing the current black wrapping and black “Novi Police” lettering on one of its Ford Explorer vehicles with pink and white.
The vehicle will make its debut at the Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day that travels through Novi on Friday and Saturday, before being used in daily uniform operations throughout August, September and the first two weeks of October.
Starting October 14, the vehicle will be taken out-of-service for two weeks and be displayed at various locations and events around the City of Novi. For a minimum $5 donation, people will be able to sign the pink portions of the vehicle with the name of a loved one or a wish for someone who has been impacted by breast cancer.
Novi Police Go Pink
"Our Public Safety team is continuously striving to come up with innovative ways to strengthen our community partnerships, and most importantly, connect with residents in the Novi community,” said David E. Molloy, Novi’s Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police. “This isn’t just a new pink wrap on one of our current vehicles, but it really is our way of showing support to everyone who has been affected by breast cancer that they are not alone in their fight.”
Money raised from the vehicle signatures will be donated in early November on behalf of the Novi Police Department to the Believe in Miracles Fund at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus. The fund helps patients currently in cancer treatment by providing emergency financial assistance for essential living needs.
“Chief Molloy and the hard-working men and women of the Novi Police Department are to be commended and publicly thanked for supporting such a wonderful cause, “ said Joe Hurshe, President & CEO Ascension Providence Hospital. “We at Ascension Providence Novi are delighted to be the trusted health care partner throughout greater Novi and it’s a privilege to serve this wonderful community.”
