Explore a variety of creative experiences for ages 3 to 16

NOVI, Mich., May 24, 2019 – Novi Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services presents a variety of unique Cultural Arts Camp offerings for summer 2019. Free your child’s creative mind with dance camps, art camps and theatre camps on the Civic Center Campus. Opportunities include Art Fundamentals, Musical Theatre, Drawing & Printmaking, Princess Dance, Tropical Luau Dance and more. For parents interested in childcare before and after day camp sessions, optional sessions will be available from 7-9am and 3-6pm.

Princess Dance Camps: Bring out your little one’s inner princess with ballet basics, games and crafts. Participants are invited to wear their favorite princess or ballet outfit. Camps are for age 3 to 5 on June 19-21, July 9-11 & August 13-15.
Dance Camps: Three options including Fairy Magic from July 29-August 1, Rock Stars & Divas from August 5-8 and Tropical Luau from August 12-15. Campers age 5 to 9 will explore dancing styles and engage in fun activities and games while using their imaginations. All dance camps are two to three hours per day.
*NEW Mexico Lindo Kids Camp: Campers will learn footwork techniques, proper use of skirt technique, choreographic patterns and formations with the fun of dancing with some props such as fans or bandannas. All levels age 6 to 11 are welcome to this camp on August 26-August 29.

Drawing & Printmaking: Traditional drawing and printmaking skills and techniques are introduced while promoting confidence to think outside the box and engage creative problem solving to achieve campers’ artistic visions. Camp runs June 24-28 for age 7 to 11 and culminates in an artist showcase on the final day
Art Fundamentals: A variety of techniques and materials including watercolor, tempera, and printmaking will be used to develop artistic skill and complete fun and engaging artwork in this camp. Camp runs July 22-26 for age 7 to 11 and culminates in an artist showcase on the final day.
Intro to Art: Children will explore basic elements of design such as shape, color and line while using many different art media and also covering art skills such as drawing and cutting. Young artists can express creativity and gain self-confidence. Camp runs July 23-25 for age 4 to 6.

Young Stars Theatre: Introduce your little ham to the world of theatre and get them interested in acting, singing and the rhythms of a musical theatre production. A short performance will be presented on the final day of camp. Camps run July 22-26 or August 19-23 for age 6 to 8.
Acting for the Stage: Campers will learn acting, auditioning, and improvisation techniques in a high energy theatrical environment. Each moment will be filled with theatre games, performance rehearsals, and explorations of acting techniques culminating in a short, comedic performance. Camp runs August 12-16 for age 9 to 16.
“I am always amazed at what is accomplished at the Acting for the Stage Camp and with such a wide age range of kids! The productions are really well done. One of the best summer camps we’ve ever participated in,” said parent Celia Gilger.
