Novi Fire Captain Charles Roberts Graduates from School of Fire Staff and Command Executive Leadership Program at Eastern Michigan University

NOVI, Mich., October 22, 2019 – The Novi Fire Department is pleased to announce the graduation of Captain Charles Roberts from the 21st class of the School of Fire Staff and Command Executive Leadership Program at Eastern Michigan University. Roberts was joined 43 other fire department professionals from 36 different communities throughout Michigan in the nine-month program.
The School of Fire Staff and Command Executive Leadership Program provides upper-level academic instruction in a total of five core, or mandatory blocks of instruction and utilizes over 30 additional optional blocks of instruction during each session. Major topics of study include Leadership Development, Planning and Decision Making, Human Resource Management, Administration of the Fire Department and Critical Incidents in Homeland Security. The goal of the program is to better prepare the professional fire officer to effectively manage their fire agency
“I am extremely proud of Captain Roberts’ professional growth and development as a public safety executive,” said Novi’s Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “The Staff and Command program has prepared him to meet the many challenges the Novi Fire Department faces every day enhancing public trust with community members.” Captain Roberts began his career with the Novi Fire Department in 1997 as a fire protection officer before being promoted to Captain in 2018.
The School of Fire Staff and Command education/training program develops the officers destined for senior leadership within their departments.
