August 2017 - Officer Bob Manar
Officer Bob Manar
The Novi Public Safety Administration would like to extend their appreciation and congratulations to Officer Bob Manar on his nomination and selection as the Novi Public Safety Employee of the Month – AUGUST 2017. Officer Manar was nominated by Sergeant Amanda Kulikowski and selected by the Implementation Committee for his thorough criminal investigation resulting in the apprehension of several Larceny from Automobile (LFA) and Credit Card Fraud suspects.
On August 15, 2017, Officer Manar received a LFA complaint that occurred near the 2300 block of Austin Drive. Officer Manar noted during his investigation that several credit cards were stolen from a woman's purse and fraudulently used for purchases that were made at the Walmart in Novi and in surrounding jurisdictions. Officer Manar proceeded to make contact with Walmart loss prevention where he obtained CCTV footage of all three suspects in the LFA complaint conducting various transactions at the checkout using the stolen credit cards. After recognizing one of the suspects from a recent Informational Bulletin, Officer Manar conferred with his fellow officers and learned the suspect resided in the city.
Officers then responded to the suspect’s residence in which Officer Manar was able to obtain incriminating statements from him along with locating the second suspect hiding in the basement of the home. The third suspect’s identity was then developed through a successful interrogation where it was learned that he was currently residing in the City of Walled Lake. Detectives responded to that location and were able to place him into custody and also retrieve a firearm that was stolen from one of the victim’s vehicles. In total, three suspects were arrested for LFA activity and credit card fraud involving three of Novi’s citizens. Two stolen bicycles, one fraudulently purchased bicycle from Walmart, and a stolen firearm from the larcenies were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
We all applaud Officer Manar on his persistent follow-up that resulted in the apprehension of three potentially violent suspects and the recovery of a stolen firearm. The full-time fire and police command officers and administrators congratulate Officer Manar on being named Public Safety Employee of the Month - AUGUST 2017.
