February 2014 - Chief of Police David E. Molloy
Chief of Police David E. Molloy
Director of Public Safety / Chief of Police David E. Molloy is pleased to extend his appreciation and congratulations to Cadet Brandon Bidus on his nomination and selection as the Novi Public Safety Employee of the Month, February 2014. Cadet Bidus was nominated by Sergeant Kevin Rhea for his professionalism, community participation and enthusiasm. Sergeant Rhea shared the following information in the nomination:
On February 6, 2014, the Novi Police Department received an email from a grateful citizen detailing an incident Cadet Bidus handled. While travelling to lunch, Cadet Bidus happened upon an accident at Ten Mile and Novi Roads. Although no one was injured, both vehicles were disabled and Cadet Bidus noticed the teenage driver and passenger were standing on the side of the road, shivering in sub-zero weather and shaken by the accident. Cadet Bidus offered his personal vehicle as a safe and warm place for the teens to stay until police and family members arrived. As the teen's mother later stated in her email "It was comforting to know that someone of his morale character and compassion was in the area to help my children. I can appreciate that there are so many facets to becoming a police officer, but I can endorse someone with caring, compassion, helpful, trustworthy and responsible characteristics like Cadet Bidus. The City of Novi could use more people of this stature working in our community." Cadet Bidus has also ingrained himself into the fabric of the department by joining officers and firefighters as a vital member of the hockey team that participated in the "Victory 2013" benefit.
Taking the time to reassure, comfort and display compassion with people in need make Cadet Bidus a valuable and important member of this organization. It is with great pride that Chief Molloy join the other members of the Novi Public Safety Team, and the Novi community in recognizing his outstanding work.
