55 & Better

A Brighter Day

Presented in collaboration with the All Things Yarn group
Aug 17-Oct 9

Attention knitters and crocheters, you can help brighten a senior’s day by participating in yarn bombing! Maybe you saw the tree socks display last year on the Civic Center Campus? This year, the Meadowbrook Commons Campus is the location. Nearly 200 older adults live on the Meadowbrook Commons Campus, many of
which have had limited interaction with friends and family due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Colorful trees on campus are sure to lift spirits and provide a cheery view. The tree socks will be installed in late August and displayed for about six weeks.
You can participate in two ways:

  • Donate yarn to the Novi Parks Department by Aug 3 so we can distribute it to local artisans.
  • Adopt a tree and knit a sock by Aug 17. We will provide you the measurements and will install your piece. Let us know if you are in need of yarn.
For information on both options, call 248.347.0400 or email noviparks@cityofnovi.org.
