If your child could design a perfect summer, it would probably include plenty of friends, exciting things to do every day, and a place to keep cool when the summer sun gets too hot.  The Novi Parks Department offers a variety of new camps for kids to discover a perfect summer.  With over 15 new camps, we are sure to have something to meet your child’s interest of the arts, outdoors sports and more.  Plan Now to Maximize Your Summer Fun!  Registration is going on now.

Camp Lakeshore

Kids on Lakeshore BeachCamp Lakeshore is more than a camp – it’s an adventure! Dress like a pirate for pirate day, build sand castles on the beach, visit awesome water parks, science museums and much more. Each day is packed with games, activities, crafts and the week is finished with a camp BBQ! Our knowledgeable and experienced camp staff knows kids – they also know how to inspire your kids in the development of leadership and social skills.

Camp Lakeshore is a licensed camp under the State of Michigan Human Services Department and we keep a ratio of at least 8 kids to one instructor / counselor. The goal of licensing is safe, healthy and worthwhile camping experiences for all campers! With the state license, Camp Lakeshore continues its excellent tradition of providing a variety of safe and exciting programs!

Additional Information: Participants must bring a lunch and drink each day, except Friday. Field trips every Wednesday include water parks and the Detroit Zoo! Parent orientation / information meetings will be held on Mon, June 2 and Tue, June 10, 6:30pm at the Lakeshore Park Pavilion.

Child Watch Camp Lakeshore

For your convenience, if your child needs to arrive early or stay late for Camp Lakeshore our staff can accommodate you. Morning and evening times are available each week, 7:45- 9:30am and / or 4:00-5:30pm. A staff ratio of at least 8 kids to one instructor / counselor is standard at our care program. We’ll make sure your child is safe and ready for camp fun to begin!

Oakland County Parks Wild Adventures Camp

Explore the outdoors on foot, bike, and by boat! Each day is themed around an element – metal, water wood, fire and earth with mountain biking, rock climbing, geocaching, fishing and more! Please complete the Oakland County registration form, available at the parks office or by clicking here, when registering for this camp.

Additional Information: Drop-of/pick up for this camp is at the main office building of Lakeshore Park.  Children will then board an Oakland county Parks Bus to travel to camp location.

NEW! Oakland County Parks Wild Adventures EXTREME

This camp includes all the fun of Wild Adventures Camp plus canoeing, backpacking, shelter building and out-door survival skills. Campers will go river paddling on the Clinton River, and campout overnight at Camp Wilderness on Thursday - learn fire building, campfire cooking, and camping skills. Overnight supervision provided by OCP. Come join us around the campfire! Please complete the Oakland County registration form, available at the parks office or by clicking here, when registering for this camp.

Enjoy a great time at one of Oakland County’s finest parks. Located on 1,043 acres, the Lyon Oaks Nature Center is surrounded by wet forests and grassy meadows. Please call the Nature Center for more information concerning opportunities to earn scout badges.

Archeology

Students will unearth artifacts from the park deposited years ago by the early residents using techniques of professional archeologists. Examination of the items will help us understand their lifestyle. Bring sunscreen, hat, gloves and dress to get dirty.

Camp Carousel Acres on the FarmNature at its best. Experience life on the farm, brushing, feeding and caring for miniature horses, miniature don-keys, calves, goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens, ducks and more! Ride ponies, spin wool, make crafts, play games, garden, cook and more. Visit some amazing animals from “the land down under” and see the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly up close in our butterfly house, observe the reindeer, alpacas and llamas too! Novi Parks and the Michigan Mountain Biking Association are partnering to bring you a ‘can’t miss’ mountain biking camp! You’ll will learn the basics of XC (cross country) mountain biking including terminology, bike maintenance, emergency repair, equipment, safety, trail etiquette and general trail riding! By using a respectful attitude toward the environment and common sense in dealing with other people, mountain biking will be a sport that you can enjoy for years to come! Girl English riding on horseAll levels welcome. You will learn how to handle horses from the ground and while riding. Proper care for a horse, equipment, different breeds, anatomy, first aid for horses, as well as videos, arts/crafts and a horseshow at the end of the week are all included. Additional Information: Students registered for the full day session should bring a bag lunch. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Drinks and snacks are provided daily. Grab your board and head to the skate park inside West Bloomfield’s Drake Park for PLUS Skateboarding Shop’s summer camp. Beginner and advanced skateboarders will benefit from this camp, as instructors from the PLUS Skate Team teach campers based on individual talent. Participants will learn about safety, tricks, use of the park, skateboard art and history as they have fun and interact with other skaters. Campers will leave the camp with a top deck customized with their own graphics, a t-shirt they screen print themselves, a diploma for completing the camp and other goodies from PLUS Skateboarding Shop. Be sure to bring lunch, water, a helmet and skateboard each day. Skateboard shoes are recommended.

Soccer Kickin’ Kamp Travel

Kids playing soccerTravel soccer camp provides an excellent opportunity for travel players to pre-pare for their up coming season. Players will have the chance to train with some of the top Jaguar Staff coaches as well as other top college, club, and Olympic Development Program coaches from around the region. Topics include, but are not limited to, speed of play, crossing and finishing, small group and team defending, and combination play. The camp coaching staff works in conjunction with the team coaches in order to design sessions geared towards preparing the teams technically and tactically for the coming season. Additional Information: Coaches are encouraged to attend. No fee.

NEW! LEGO Battle Bots Camp

Children will learn to design and build their own motorized battle cars and other vehicles. Using principles of simple and complex machines, gearing and mechanical advantage, students will try to flip, push and smash their opponent's battle vehicles. Lessons demonstrate the use of mechanical lifts, nets, drills, ramps and more to disable or overcome other bots. Students may outgrow their love of LEGO's, but this insight into physics will stay with them forever!

Chess Camp - Walled Lake Community Education

At the Chess Camp your child will learn to improve his/her: imagination, logic, concentration, critical thinking, reasoning skills, and intuition. Does your child enjoy creative activities and playing with other children? Does he/she need a boost of confidence? Then Chess program is just what they need. This program will include group lectures, tournaments, matches, game analysis, simuls and other components of chess training. The objective of the program is to give students the opportunity to study basic chess principals, to have fun playing chess and to compete in a friendly environment. Thursday - Friday students will have a big chess tournament with trophies and medals for different levels and ages.
