The ancient art of tai chi uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today’s busy lifestyles and achieve a sense of inner calm. This is a non-competitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Our instructor will teach the “yang” style of tai chi with an emphasis on health restoration and maintenance. Movements are low impact and coordinated with breathing, making this form of exercise especially suitable for older adults who otherwise may not exercise. Come join this tennis league that fits into any busy schedule! Fourteen matches are scheduled on a weekly basis with your opponent at a convenient time and location for both. Players will be assigned to the appropriate division based on their level of competitive play. All players must submit their USTA rating, which can be determined through usta.com (professionally OR self-rated). Players must be 18 years old by May 21, 2012. A league banquet at the end of the season and participant T-shirt are included in the registration price. League participants will be able to sign up for a free group lesson on Saturday, May 19th at ITC Community Sports Park. Times to be determined when divisions are formed. Compete and socialize with cricket enthusiasts! The second annual Novi Cricket Cup will be held at the beautiful, recently upgraded, Ella Mae Power Park and ITC Community Sports Park. Last year, 16 teams from Metro Detroit and Lansing competed for the championship. Modified ‘T-ball’ cricket rules will apply. Teams will be guaranteed three matches (approximately 2 hours each). Tournament schedule will be posted Tuesday, July 10.
All teams and their families are invited to Opening Ceremonies at the Novi Civic Center - Friday, July 13 at 7pm. Participants will be welcomed by city officials and last year’s champions will be recognized. Snacks and beverages will be provided. All teams will play three matches on Saturday, July 14. The top 8 teams will advance to knockout rounds on Sunday.

Swing batter, batter, swing! Get your child active and outdoors this summer! Your child will learn the fundamentals of baseball/softball; including base running, hitting and throwing while learning the rules of the game and strategies. Practices will take place for the first two weeks. The rest of the season there will be two games per week on a weeknight. A T-shirt and a participation award are included. Your child must bring a glove bat. We will provide helmets with cages. If you bring your own helmet, it must have a cage attached. Please register your child for the grade they will be enrolled in for the 2012-13 school year. Coach Information: A mandatory coach meeting for T-ball and Coach Pitch will take place on May 30, 6:30pm at the Civic Center.

Create a racquet and have a ball, while learning to love a lifetime sport! Beginners will be introduced to the basic skills of ground strokes, volleys and serves. The intermediate level will provide an opportunity for players with some tennis experience to review the basics and moving forward at a quicker pace. Advanced players should be comfortable rallying and be ready to focus on strategy, placement and spins. Drills, games, and some match play will be incorporated, depending on skill levels demonstrated.
Each session will include six lessons (with a maximum student/instructor ratio at 1 to 6!). Please note the maximum participant numbers, and sign up quick to enjoy the personalized instruction. Choose either session or both! Bring a tennis racquet and water. All lessons will be held at Rotary Park.

The travel soccer division is governed
by WSSL (Western Suburban Soccer
League). WSSL does not allow tryouts,
so we take care of team
formation and play other teams from
surrounding communities at home
and away locations (within 30 miles
of Novi) on weekends and weekday
evenings. When prompted during
registration, individuals may put in
their coach name. If an individual
was not a part of a team from the
previous season, we will place them
based on availability. Players will
receive a full uniform including a jersey, shorts, socks and
award. Practices are scheduled to begin the week of August
27 and the season will end by the end of October.

The Novi Ice Arena Learn to Skate
program is one of the 10 largest
programs in the United States and
follows the curriculum of the U.S.
Figure Skating program. Lessons
are given by highly qualified
professional skating instructors.
All classes are 30 minutes with an
additional 30 minutes of practice,
and enrolled skaters will receive
a Public Skate punch card for a limited number of free
admissions. Classes are offered for people of all ages and
times and days vary to fit your schedule. Registration is

The Learn to Play Hockey classes are a great way for kids aged 4-9 to begin learning the basics of the great game of hockey. Adult Summer Skills Series is ideal for any parents looking to learn with their kids or late comers to the game. Power Skating classes help current hockey players and figure skaters work on their skating ability and stride and are offered during the same timeframe. All classes are taught by highly qualified hockey instructors and are one hour in length.

Established in 1998 with 25
members, the Skating Club of Novi
is a volunteer organization that has
been a member of the United States
Figure Skating Association since
1999. Since then, the club has grown
to over 150 members. The club is
dedicated to the promotion of figure
skating, and supports many activities at the Novi Ice Arena to
further this goal. The Skating Club hosts the Annual Ice Show
in the early spring that showcases the talents of our Learn to
Skate students as well as our recreational and competitive
figure skaters. Our coaching staff is for all levels of skaters,
from beginner to competitive; individual freestyle and dance.
On May 6-7, the Skating Club of Novi is hosting their annual
ice show. This year’s theme is “Divas on Ice”. Tickets are
available in advance or at the door.
Summer freestyle ice is available six days per week (Monday-
Friday mornings and afternoons, and Saturday mornings).
Please call the rink for times and levels.
Various divisions will be offered for team registrations. The focus of these leagues is fun and even competition. There is no checking, early games times, updated standings, trained scorekeepers & officials, and awards for champions. Registration for summer leagues, which run from July-August, begins in June.

Novi Ice Arena is home to the Novi Youth Hockey Association. The NYHA is a non-profit, volunteer lead organization committed to cultivating and developing youths in the sport of ice hockey. Both house and travel teams are offered to support players ranging from ages 4-18. 500+ players are active in the Novi house program with another 100+ travel players, making it one of the largest in Michigan and the USA. Over the years, NYHA teams have won state and district championships with many tournament wins in tow. The hockey season runs from early August (travel)/late August (house) through March. The house (beginning with the Squirt division) and travel teams participate within the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League (LCAHL), the nation’s largest amateur youth hockey league. Mini-Mite and Mite house players compete against local teams. The Association also offers “Learn to Play Hockey” programs. The NYHA also has specific offerings for girls’ programming. Novi Ice Arena is the home of the Novi High School Wildcats and the Northville High School Mustangs. The High School hockey season begins in mid-November and runs through mid-March.
