The age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue intrigue every audience, and no musical puts it on stage better than ANYTHING GOES. This show is an amusing story wrapped around one of Cole Porter’s magical scores. Terrific Cole Porter songs include It’s De-Lovely, Friendship, I Get A Kick Out Of You, All Through The Night, Anything Goes, You’re The Top and Blow, Gabriel, Blow. All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship. Rehearsals are Tue, Thu 4:30-7pm. Performances are May 14-16. Auditions packets will be available February 15.

After taking this one-day workshop, audition with confidence for Charlotte’s Web or another play. Develop auditioning skills in acting, character choices or scenic cold reading that will help you land the part. Also great for those auditioning for school plays or theatre programs.

Audition Intensive Workshop

Want more than a one day workshop? Get everything your child needs to audition for Charlotte’s Web or any other show. Knowledgeable teachers will help the students with their monologues, character development and cold reading techniques. They will develop skills that will help them land the part, and learn how to approach each audition with confidence and ease.

Without A Net - Improvisation Class

Come join the fun! Build your improvisation skills and learn to become part of an ensemble with your classmates. Improvisation is not only a hugely popular performance form but it’s used in many auditions! Hone this important skill by studying with an alumna of the famed Second City Theatre. Perform with confidence in an improv comedy show for friends and family on the last day of class. A t-shirt is available with this class for an additional fee of $10. There will be no class on March 3.

NEW – Three Fractured Fairy Tales

Now is your child’s opportunity to learn and share from the other side of the story. Participants will become characters from three stories told from a different point of view than traditional fairy tales like “The Wolf Who Cried Boy.” Your child will experience all aspects of theatre from designing costumes and sets, to acting and performing while making new friends. A complimentary performance will be given after the last class. Please bring a snack to this class.

NEW – Characters & Scenes

Explore the world of theatre performance with a professional acting instructor. Grow as a performer, learn acting techniques and develop characters as you bring to life a scene from contemporary theatre. The program will culminate in a presentation of scenes on the last day of class. Students must be able to memorize a scene. There will be no class on March 3.

NEW – Guitar Lessons

This beginning level guitar class for all ages teaches guitar basics in a fun, interactive, and accessible format that is catered to the students’ interests. Topics include: tuning, scales, chords, basic theory, history, guitar maintenance, songs and styles. There will be no class on Monday, Feb 15. The Civic Center is closed for President’s Day.

Motown – Style Ballroom Dance

Not your typical Ballroom dance style, this unique and popular style of ballroom dance stems from the “Baby Boom” generation. It is a combination of the Social and the Cha-Cha. You will learn the basic ballroom steps and several dance combinations. Individuals and couples are welcome. We take people with one or two left feet. (Please no shoes with rubber soles). Novi Concert Band

The Novi Concert Band invites interested adult musicians to join the group. Become part of this band and meet new people who love to play music. Upcoming Concerts - Free Community Events

The Novi Choralaires

The Novi Choralaires is a community chorus serving Novi and the surrounding area. Under the direction of Janet Wassilak, the Choralaires perform concerts for the public and also at community events. Performing Arts Academy

As part of the Novi Community fabric for the last 35 years, Performing Arts Academy gives children the opportunity to discover the joy of performing arts within qualified training programs. Our educational efforts having been recognized and certified by Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of Michigan and Cecchetti Council of America. We offer a complete performing arts program for the recreational student through professional levels in dance, piano and vocal.

Dance

Dance improves gross and fine motor skills simultaneously increasing flexibility, strength and stamina. Dance develops more than just the physical aspect of a child it also enhances their academic experiences. The performance opportunities build self-esteem and promote confidence. Students experience the joy of dance in a healthy program for all ages.

We offer classes in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and
musical theatre. NOW OFFERING

Four program areas will be offered to meet the interests and needs of all our students:

Piano

Performing Arts Academy offers a piano program for children and adults. The piano lessons are fun filled, and many students enjoy various musical activities. Instruction includes music theory, ear training, sight reading, and sight singing. Suzuki and traditional methods are used. Students are encouraged to participate in the Federation Festival and annual recital.

Vocal
