Dear Business Owner:
As always, we are honored that you have chosen to establish and
maintain your business in Novi. All businesses located within
the City are required to renew their business registration
annually (click on next link below).
The City of Novi Ordinance
related to Business Registration is located in
Chapter 8 of the City Code. The information you
provide is utilized by the following departments:
The Fire Department will
review for hazardous materials. The Water Department will notify
users in case of emergency water loss. The Building
Department will ensure the building meets all inspection
requirements for a certificate of occupancy. The Planning
Department will coordinate zoning requirements. The Police
Department will use the form to make contacts with business
owners if the need arises. Residents are also provided
access to general business information when searching for your
business location. So, please take a few minutes to
complete the application and submit it with the registration fee
to the City Clerk’s office, 45175 W. 10 Mile Road, Novi, MI

Option B - Truss Schematic Plan Requirements
Effective October 16, 2006, the Building Department will no
longer require submittal of truss options A or B for residential
permits (under the Michigan Residential Code). However,
the truss specs and truss layout will be required to be on site
for the rough building inspection. These must be on site
before an inspection can be performed. In addition, the
specifications must be signed and sealed by a registered
architect or engineer from the State of Michigan and have the
job address on the specs. Once the rough inspection is
approved the inspector is to take (1) one copy back to office to
be filed in the specific project file.
With regards to the plan review, a truss layout must be
submitted along with the plans to be reviewed. In
addition, the plans must show structural point loads, header
material, header sizes, laminated beams, micro lams, etc.
The procedure for submittal of any “nonresidential” truss
specifications will continue in the same manner as it is
currently submitted and processed. This would include any
project reviewed under the Michigan Building Code.

This easement form is a requirement for the purposes of storm

Maintenance and Guarantee Bond - City Contract
Maintenance and Guarantee Bond - Developer
This form is required of any proposed public utility (water
main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer) and/or street(s), separately,
for a period of two (2) years,
from the date of Temporary Certificate of Occupancy issuance.
Its purpose is to insure the improvements are in good working
and functioning order during that period and allowing the
ability to repair any necessary defects. This document and any

Subordination Agreement
This form is required if the under signer of a mortgage, a
