Press ReleaseExperience Art at Fuerst Park and the Novi Civic Center -Donations and sponsors pave the way for the installation of six sculptures.
CONTACT: Tracie Ringle 248-735-5613 NOVI, Michigan, May 3, 2010 – The City of Novi is proud to announce the opening of the Public Sculpture Exhibit at no cost to our citizens. Six sculptures will be on display; five along the walking paths of Fuerst Park, and one outside the Civic Center through April, 2011. The pieces, chosen by a jury of local art professionals, are interpretive, abstract, and meant to evoke different reactions from those who view the exhibit.
“Providing public art adds beauty to our community while instilling civic pride and citizen engagement. This exhibit enhances the space and will encourage people to enjoy the art along with the many events and programs at Fuerst Park, including the Sizzling Summer Arts Series, offered throughout the summer.” says Randy Auler, Director, Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. To celebrate the new exhibit, the City of Novi will host a FREE opening celebration on Wednesday, June 2 to coincide with the opening of the Sizzling Summer Arts Series and Novi High School’s Festival of the Arts. The event begins at 6 pm at Fuerst Park. There will be live jazz music, a community art project, food vendors, and docent tours. In addition to the Public Sculpture Exhibit, an art display area has been added in the Atrium of the Novi Civic Center. This public gallery provides local artists to display their work. Exhibits will be monthly or bi-monthly and can be viewed anytime the Civic Center is open. For more information regarding the art exhibits, or for donating to future exhibits, please contact Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services at 248-347-0400.
