Press Release: Novi City Clerk Earns Master
Municipal Clerk Designation

Novi, Mich., March 9, 2010, – Maryanne Cornelius, Novi City
Clerk, has earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk (MMC),
which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks,
Inc. (IIMC). The IIMC grants the MMC designation only to those
municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and
those who have a record of significant contributions to their local
government, their community, and state. Only 41 other clerks in
Michigan have achieved the MMC designation.

To earn the designation, Ms. Cornelius participated in the Master
Municipal Academy (MMCA). The MMCA is an advanced continuing
education program that prepares participants to perform complex
municipal duties. The program has an extensive and rigorous
educational component, a professional and social contribution
component, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Ms. Cornelius has served the City of Novi since 2000, and in 2001
was recognized as Michigan Clerk of the Year by the Michigan
Association of Municipal Clerks.
