FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVI, Mich., July 11, 2008 – On July 10, 2008, three individuals
were arraigned on Home Invasion charges stemming from two incidents
that occurred in the past week. Jerome Terrell, an 18-year-old
Detroit resident, Christopher Crain, a 19-year-old Oak Park resident
and Mitchton Edwards, an 18-year-old Detroit resident, were
arraigned before Magistrate Michael Batchik of the 52-1 District
Court. Home
Invasion is a Felony carrying a penalty of up to 15
years in prison and/or $3000.00 fine. Bond was set for each suspect
at $20,000 cash or surety. The individuals are currently being held
at the Oakland County Jail.
On July 6, 2008, a Novi family was at their home when they
observed a male subject knocking on the front door. They did not
answer the door and the subject returned to a vehicle parked in the
driveway. The family then observed another male peering through the
rear doorwall into their house. Two subjects then kicked open the
front door and entered the residence. The subjects were confronted
by the residents and then fled back to their vehicle. Nothing was
taken from the home and one of the residents described the vehicle
as a blue Dodge Charger.
Two days later on July 8, a babysitter and 13-year-old-girl were
returning to their home when they observed a blue Dodge Charger
parked in the driveway of the residence next door. The babysitter
observed a male, later identified as Crain, walk from the residence
back to the Charger. Crain engaged in a conversation with the
babysitter and then left in the Charger with two other males. The
babysitter went into the home and observed the Charger return to the
house next door. The 13-year-old girl took a photograph of the
suspect vehicle from a second story window and Novi Police were
summoned to the scene. Officers arrived at the residence and began
an investigation. It was determined that the home had been broken
into and computer equipment was stolen. Officers relayed information
to area police departments and shortly thereafter, officers from the
Livonia Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle in the area of
I-96 and Farmington Road, where Terrell, Crain and Edwards were
taken into custody. The stolen computer equipment was recovered
inside the Charger.
The Novi Police Department continues to work with other law
enforcement agencies while investigating additional home invasions
that may be linked to these suspects and is asking anybody with
information to contact Detective Todd Anger of the Novi Police
Department at (248) 348–7100.
