Press Release: Novi Police search for suspect in
diamond ring theft from Elias Jewelry & Repairs at Twelve Oaks Mall

NOVI, Michigan, February 5, 2008 – Shortly after 7:00pm on
February 4th, Novi Police Officers were dispatched to Elias Jewelry
& Repairs, located inside Twelve Oaks Mall, on a report of armed
robbery.
A male suspect had entered
the store and requested to look at engagement rings. The suspect is
described as a white male, 5’9" tall, weighing 235 pounds, with
brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue t-shirt, and a
generic law enforcement identification badge around his neck. He
carried a semiautomatic handgun in a holster on his right hip and
had a set of silver handcuffs attached to his belt.
After looking at several rings, the subject took a nearly one
carat diamond, valued at more than $16,500, and threatened to shoot
the sales clerk if she followed him. As he exited the store, he
passed the jewelry store owner and also threatened him not to
follow. The suspect then exited the mall via the west side doors.
Prior to committing the robbery at Elias Jewelry & Repairs, the
suspect was identified as being at Zales Jewelry, also in Twelve
Oaks Mall, where the photo at right was captured.
