Passports
Passport service is now available at the Civic Center. The City
Clerk’s Office at the Civic Center now accepts Passport Applications
from 9:00am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday.
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004
requires passports for travel to numerous countries. All air and
sea travelers to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America,
the Caribbean, and Bermuda required passports as of December 31,
2006. By the summer of 2009, the requirement will be extended to all
land border crossings as well.
Passport fees vary depending on age, if it is a new application
or renewal, or if expedited service is required (see table below). The renewal few is $75
and takes two to four weeks to process.
Passport fees must be paid for with a check or money order, and
must be made out for the two separate fees – one for the passport
fee and one for the execution fee.
Questions regarding Passport Applications can be answered by
visiting
www.travel.state.gov or calling the City Clerk's Office at
248-347-0456.
*For expedited Service, applicant must add $60 per application
and two-way overnight delivery to ensure receipt within two weeks.
If you are leaving in six to eight weeks, it will be necessary for
you to expedite and use two-way express mail delivery from the Novi
Post Office to help ensure timely receipt since passport
applications are notably high this year.
