Passports

The City Clerk’s Office at the Civic Center accepts Passport Applications from 9:00am to 12:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative went into effect on June 1, 2009. The WHTI is a result of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (IRTPA), which requires all travelers to present a passport book or passport card when entering the United States.

A passport book is valid for land, air and sea travel. The passport card is only valid for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda.

Please Note: Children under age 16 will be able to continue crossing land and sea borders using only a U.S. birth certificate (or other form of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate.). The original birth certificate or a copy may be used.

Passport fees vary depending on age, if it is a new application or renewal, or if expedited service is required (see table below). If eligible, the renewal few is $75 and takes two to four weeks to process.

Passport fees must be paid for with a check or money order, and must be made out for the two separate fees – one for the passport fee and one for the execution fee.
