ITC Transmission Company
ITC
Holdings, the nation's first independently owned and operated
electricity transmission company, recently broke ground on its new
Novi headquarters. The facility will be located on 83 acres near the
Quaker Station, located at M-5 and Twelve Mile Road, one of ITC's
electrical substations, and will house a 188,000 square-foot main
office complex, a parking structure and control room. The facility
will have capacity for 450 employees, and the property leaves room
for additional buildings to accommodate the company's ongoing
growth. Built with the environment in mind, the main building will
save energy by maximizing the use of natural light and utilizing
efficient, under-floor heating and cooling systems. ITC expects to
take occupancy in April 2008.
Ryder System, Inc.
Developers Northern
Equities Group and Etkin Equities L.L.C. announced Ryder has signed
a 10-year lease for a 120,000-square-foot building in the Haggerty
Corridor Corporate Park, located at Thirteen Mile and M-5.
Construction of the new facility will begin in April. About 800
people will work at the new location, including the creation of
200-300 new jobs.
Main Street
Development
In
2006, City Council approved the preliminary site plan for the
continued development of Main Street, located at Novi Road and Main
Street, by Triangle MainStreet. Triangle’s goal is to build a
cosmopolitan area that provides a multifaceted living experience in
the heart of Novi. The public core of the Main Street area will be a
lively blend of unique retail stores, restaurants, bistros, and
entertainment facilities. A variety of housing opportunities will be
woven into this dynamic development to complete a full spectrum of
lifestyle opportunities within a self-contained, walkable community.
The approved plan will bring an investment of 401 residential
units, 70,000 square feet of medical office space, 30,000 square
feet of restaurant space, 88,000 square feet of retail space, and a
400+ space privately financed and operated parking deck to the area
along the north and south side of Main Street. The architecture is
varied throughout the development, but has a unified look and feel,
with materials carried over between buildings. The project
represents an important assemblage of land in a key area of the
community, and provides for an interesting mix and complexity of
uses.
